From Stalled Growth to Full Steam Ahead — How We Beat Amazon’s Restock Limits

In 2021, Amazon blindsided sellers by introducing Account Level Restock Limits.
For one fast-growing plastic product manufacturer, the change hit like a brick wall — slashing their ability to send inventory to FBA and cutting off their record-breaking sales streak.

Here’s how we turned that roadblock into a recovery story.

1. Identify the Bottlenecks

  • When the limits kicked in, this client’s large, oversized storage footprint became a liability.

  • Fast movers sold out. Listings went dark.

  • On top of that, their Inventory Performance Index (IPI) was already below the recommended threshold — making it even harder to earn back storage space.

2. Prioritize What Sells

We worked quickly to:

  • Remove slow movers from Amazon fulfillment centers

  • Keep only the fastest-moving products in stock

  • This freed up space for the SKUs that mattered most.

3. Speed Up Replenishment

  • Instead of shipping via LTL, we switched the client to SPD via UPS.

  • The result? Shipments were processed faster, getting products back in front of customers before competitors could grab market share.

4. Restructure for More Capacity

  • We split the Amazon account into multiple accounts by product category — home, pet, and more — giving the client extra FBA space across each one.
    (All pre-approved by Amazon and in full compliance with their guidelines.)

The Snowball Effect

  • By May 2021, restock limits had dropped them to 29,440 units.

  • By November, they were back up to 58,723 units — a 99% increase.

  • IPI score climbed from 389 to 466 in the same period.
